Hey cyber world, so my husband and I have starting vlogging! I’ve always thought..”why would I watch someone live their life?” resulting in me saying “if I’m not gonna watch someone else vlog then why would I do it?” and so on!
Well I have had a shift in thinking. It’s probably said by a lot of popular people, but we honestly are not vlogging to get famous or make some money. As 2017 rolled in and we thought about what the year ahead looks like for us, Kieren and I said that we would just get and do more stuff. What exactly? We don’t know! We just wanted to get off the couch and out of the house – and this is what vlogging has helped us do.
For example, last summer 2016 we bought kayaks because they were cheap and we live in front of a lake and we probably used them twice, no joke. Last Easter we took them with us to the river and didn’t even take them off the roof! Yet here we are 2 weeks into the new year and we’ve used them a handful of times already, and yep, we’ve got it all on film. Whether the footage makes it to the YouTube channel or not, that’s not the point. The fact that we are outside, socialising, taking in the sights and staying off our phones for more than 5 minutes is what matters.
So vlogging is for US 🙂
I’m one of those people that likes to start and finish something in one sitting – probably something I’ve developed from Uni assignments! So for me to start something like this and not know what the end product is going to be, that’s a bit unsettling. However, I am excited to see where this will take us as we document things we consider important to us and share it with people.
We live in a world where people are talking about what they’ve read on FaceBook, seen on YouTube or Tweeted about, like all the time! Whether you’re one of those people that claims social media has no influence on your life or not, fact is, (well I believe) that the internet does have an affect on us. And while we aren’t focusing on the amount of views or likes our content conjures up… if it does capture peoples attention and inspires them to do something, makes someone happy or motivated to try new things then that is amazing. Other peoples videos and posts have had that affect on us! We are all people just trying to get by in life with more smiles than frowns on our faces, and if we can be the reason behind someone’s uplifted spirit, then it would be an honour to do so!
So our first video went up on YouTube today, check it out! Like, comment and subscribe – or don’t! 😛 VLOG #1: River Trip, Mannum SA, Jan 2017
Til next time!
